One family is displaced after a heated cat house caused a massive fire that spread into a Montgomery County home, authorities say.

Officials arrived to battle the flames around 11:15 p.m., Monday, Nov. 21, after the fire extended into the attic of the townhome in the 12000 block of Saw Mill Court off Shorefield Drive, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.

A heated cat house that was on the back deck of the home was reportedly the cause of the fire. Damages are reported to be around $300,000. 

Two adults and one child were displaced in the fire. No injuries were reported.
